George Miller and Byron Kennedy first met at a film workshop at the University of Melbourne in 1969. It was the beginning of one of the most significant partnerships in Australian screen, from which the Mad Max franchise, and one of the country’s most successful production houses, would spawn.
Speaking to IF, Miller says he and Kennedy were drawn together because they were like-minded and enjoyed the same kinds of cinema. They were both interested in all aspects of the filmmaking process and self-taught.
