In response to audience feedback, ABC is pleased to announce the introduction of Links to Buy, an often requested new feature within its popular internet TV service, iview.
ABC user research revealed that 9 out of 10 respondents found Links to Buy a positive addition to the iview service.
The Links to Buy feature now means that Australians can download to own their favourite ABC programs outside of the free to view window on iview. There are no changes to the amount of content in iview itself, it will continue to offer Australia’s most comprehensive range of free and ad-free programs.
Links to Buy provides seamless access to purchase and own content from iTunes, Google Play and ABC Shop Online. The Links to Buy service will launch from iview and is run by ABC Commercial.
ABC Head of TV Strategy & Digital Products, Rebecca Heap, says “ABC iview remains at the forefront of internet TV by pairing user-centered features with distinct Australian content. Our audience has told us they want to access and own episodes and full series of ABC programs, so Links to Buy is a direct response to that feedback. In an innovative way, we’ve been able to make the broad and compelling ABC Commercial offer available directly from iview, providing an effortless solution for our users.”
ABC’s Director Commercial Robert Patterson says “For a number of years, ABC Commercial has made an extensive catalogue of content available to our audience through various third party platforms. We are excited to launch iview Links to Buy as it enhances the user’s experience; creating a logical and straightforward facility that enables audiences to more easily find and acquire the content they love.”
Links to Buy are available for all the outstanding drama series currently included in iview’s free Binge on the Best of Australian Drama offering through April, including Janet King, Redfern Now (series 1 and 2) and the Jack Irish trilogy. Plus an extensive range of other popular ABC favourites are available through iview Links to Buy including series such as Rake, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Upper Middle Bogan through to Aunty Jack, Sea Change and 1915.
