AFC survey of feature film and TV drama PDV activity

The Australian Film Commission (AFC) is currently undertaking a survey of post-production, digital and visual effects (PDV) activity for feature film and TV drama in Australia.

The survey is being conducted following significant interest in the growth of the sector from the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA), the PDV sector and Ausfilm. Data is being gathered from two consecutive years ? 2005/06 and 2006/07 in order to develop a picture of the sector over time.

Survey forms have been sent to PDV companies in Australia who have indicated they undertake PDV work on feature films and TV dramas.
‘The AFC strongly encourages industry participation in this survey,’ said Acting AFC Chief Executive Chris Fitchett. ‘It expands the coverage of the AFC’s annual survey of feature film and TV production to include PDV activity in Australia where principal photography does not occur here and as such provides an exciting opportunity to capture recent growth in this sector.’
The AFC’s next national survey of feature film and TV drama production, due for publication in November, will include data from the PDV survey for the first time.
The AFC survey complements the industry wide survey to be undertaken by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in August 2007.
