Cleverman creator Ryan Griffen and Start VR chief creative officer Martin Taylor.
Start VR (Awake, Wentworth VR) is currently seeking expressions of interest for the second round of its virtual reality artist residency.
The paid opportunity, supported by Screen Australia’s Enterprise Ideas program, is open to practitioners who have worked in traditional screen media and other creative industries; previous VR experience is not necessary. Successful applicants will work with the Start VR team over six months to develop a production-ready VR project.
Cleverman creator Ryan Griffen was the first creative to undertake a residency with the Sydney-based production studio, and over the last few months has been working with the team on VR concepts.
Start VR chief creative officer Martin Taylor said: “We’ve been thrilled with the project Ryan’s residency has delivered, it’s been amazing to watch the collaboration of art, traditional storytelling and immersive technology come together. We can’t wait to see what new and exciting creative ideas come through this second residency and hope this process will connect us with an artist keen to express their artist vision into this new creative medium. I encourage creatives across the country to apply.”
The six-month residency is open to creatives aged 18 years and over who are Australian residents and have had a least two published, publicly performed or recognised credits for their work.
Expressions of interest close at midnight October 10 (AEST). To apply, go here.
