Arena premiere for Magic Mike XXL

Warner Bros. and Hoyts Cinema are excited to unveil a world exclusive stadium event, the Magic Mike XXL arena premiere on Monday July 6 at Qantas Credit Union Arena.

Fans will be able to purchase tickets to be the first in the country to see the film on the big screen and stars Channing Tatum (Mike) and Joe Manganiello (BDR) in the flesh.

Tatum and Manganiello, along with director Greg Jacobs and writer/producer Reid Carolin, will walk the red carpet, introduce the film and conduct a post-screening Q&A in front of the audience.

Tickets to the event will go on sale on June 5 at 10.00 am via Ticketek, with prices starting from $59.

“We are excited to partner with Warner Bros. and expand the cinema experience into an arena environment,”  said Hoyts CEO Damian Keogh.

“Hoyts will transform the venue into a cinema with a giant 23m screen, so that fans can watch the red carpet stream live onto the big screen, see the movie first and experience an audience with the stars.”

Says Roadshow Films co-CEO, Joel Pearlman, “We are thrilled to be working with Hoyts to bring the stars the fans via this special arena premiere. So many Australians loved the first film that we really wanted to put on a premiere that would allow the maximum number of fans to see the stars in person and be the first in Australia to see it.”

Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, the sequel finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them.

On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.

Joining the returning cast in new roles are Amber Heard (The Rum Diary), Donald Glover (Community), Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss (Step Up Revolution) and Michael Strahan (Live with Kelly and Michael), with Andie MacDowell (Footloose), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games franchise) and Jada Pinkett Smith (Gotham).

Magic Mike XXL is directed by Emmy Award winner Gregory Jacobs (Behind the Candelabra), who served as a producer on the original, as well as numerous features in a long-running collaboration with Steven Soderbergh.

The producers are Nick Wechsler, Gregory Jacobs, Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin, with a screenplay by Carolin. Steven Soderbergh, who directed the first film, is executive producer.
