ASTRA gets new policy and regulatory affairs manager

The Australian subscription television industry body, ASTRA, has announced the appointment of Simon Curtis to a one year contract position as Manager, Policy & Regulatory Affairs.

Simon joins the organisation with an extensive background in public policy and regulatory affairs having worked most recently on digital television policy for The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.

Simon has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of NSW and began his career in government as Policy Officer with the then Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, having previously been Senior Research Officer at the Communications Law Centre, UNSW.

Simon’s wealth of experience in legislation development and managing legislative processes will further inform our activities and assist us as we work to improve the regulatory environment for our industry.” said ASTRA CEO Petra Buchanan.

In his new role, Simon will work to influence policy and regulatory strategy for the subscription television industry and work with industry bodies and external groups, supporting the needs of ASTRA members.
