Four NSW-based filmmaking teams will participate in Screen NSW’s Aurora feature film development program in 2015.
Deputy Premier and Minister for the Arts Troy Grant said the teams would benefit from the opportunity to work with an impressive list of Australian and international script advisors.
“The Aurora program has an international reputation for identifying major new Australian filmmaking talent and high quality film projects,” Grant said.
“High-profile films developed through Aurora since its inception in 2002 include the Oscar ®-nominated Animal Kingdom, The Black Balloon, Wish You Were Here, Little Fish and Somersault.
“Filmmakers participating in the program in 2015 include Catriona McKenzie, whose recent film Satellite Boy was launched at the Toronto International Film Festival and later picked up two special jury prizes at the 2013 Berlinale.
“Writer, Stephen Sewell, who successfully adapted his acclaimed play, The Boys for the screen, is working with director, Serhat Caradee, who made a promising debut with his film, Cedar Boys.
“Producer, Robyn Kershaw, whose impressive credits include Bran Nue Dae and Looking for Alibrandi, and exciting emerging writer/director, Jessica Redenbach, will also participate in the 2015 Aurora program.”
Grant said the 2015 Aurora program advisors will be Emmy and Golden Globe nominated producer, Meg LeFauve; Australian writer, Keith Thompson, who co-wrote The Sapphires and is Head of Development at Goalpost Pictures Australia; and UK development executive, Katherine Butler, who was formerly Head of Development at Film4.
Screen NSW’s Aurora program is a focused and accelerated development process over a period of five months, incorporating a week‘s intensive workshop process with world-class script development advisors, and a follow up marketplace workshop and script reading.
