Busan International Film Festival selector in Australia

The Deputy Director of South Korea’s Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), Jay Jeon, will visit Sydney in July to view new feature films for preselection for this year’s festival.

BIFF (3–12 October 2013) is one of the largest film festivals in Asia with an audience of more than 220,000 last year. It is also home to the Asian Film Market, a key marketplace for Asian film business, last year hosting 181 companies from 32 countries.

In 2012, two Australian features, one feature documentary and one short screened in the festival across the Gala Presentation, World Cinema and Wide Angle sections. The festival also has a Midnight Passion section for the latest horror and sci-fi films.

If you would like Jay to view your feature film, please first check that it meets the festival’s criteria by visiting the BIFF website. Filmmakers with an eligible feature film should then contact Dale Fairbairn, Marketing Manager Industry Support, via email dale.fairbairn@screenaustralia.gov.au.

Submission deadline to Screen Australia is Thursday 11 July.

SHORT FILMS – filmmakers with eligible short films should submit their films directly to the festival by Friday 28 June. Jay will only be viewing feature films as his visit will occur after BIFF’s short film submission deadline.
