Screenworks has partnered with Australians in Film in Los Angeles to establish a regional screen scholarship program for talented screenwriters and content creators living in regional, rural and remote Australia.
Applications are open for the inaugural Regional Screen in LA Scholarship which will provide a 4-week residency in LA for one writer in 2019. The program is tailored for regional screen creatives who have achieved initial success in screen drama and are able to demonstrate significant talent and career potential.
In addition applicants must demonstrate passion for their work with the potential to be outstanding in an international context. Each scholarship is worth about $20,000.
Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse people and people living in remote areas of Australia are strongly encouraged.
They are asked to provide a list of completed projects, a statement outlining suitability for the scholarship, a writing sample and details of projects in development and a letter of support from a screen professional.
A selection committee will draw up a shortlist of up to five applicants who be reviewed by a panel of judges including reps from Australians in Film and Screenworks. Applications close on December 9.
