Well-known post-production executive Anthos Simon has left Deluxe Australia after 24 years for a role at a new production company.
Simon, who was Deluxe’s general manager, oversaw dozens of screen projects during his tenure including some of the country’s most successful films such as Australia and Happy Feet. He left Deluxe on July 20.
“I’ve been there a very long time and I think I’ve accomplished a great deal there,” Simon told IF Magazine. “I think it’s time for some new challenges.”
Simon said the biggest shift during his time was the transition from film to digital, while in recent years he had helped build Deluxe’s digital and visual effects capabilities and sound stages.
He was at film processing company Atlab in September 2008 when it was acquired by Deluxe Entertainment Group (although previous owner, exhibition company Amalgamated Holdings Limited (AHL) retained Atlab Image and Sound Technology).
His new role is also at an AHL-owned company, Edge Digital Productions. Simon will build the production company, which will focus on pre-show content, setting up network to distribute digital content, as well as all media production.
Deluxe Australia has yet to publicly name Simon's replacement. The company is led by Alaric McAusland.
