Eric Bana makes directorial debut

International star and local boy Eric Bana is making his directorial debut with Love the Beast.

The film stars Bana as his real life self, and covers his 25-year-long love affair with his own ‘Beast’, a 1974 Falcon Coupe, and is produced by Melbourne based Patikalar Productions.

In an unexpectedly emotional journey, Eric explores the importance of friends, hobbies, and what it means to live life to the fullest. Along the way Eric seeks counsel and guidance from household names such as Dr Phil and Jeremy Clarkson.

Shot over 2 years, Love the Beast takes us, in glorious detail, from the inside of a race car, to the Tasmanian wilderness, to the streets of NY and London.

A personal milestone for the actor turned filmmaker, Bana is enthused and proud.

"I am terribly excited about this project. It has been both fun and incredibly exhausting at the same time and has enabled me to combine two of the things that I love; cars and filmmaking. It started out as a simple project, but events along the way conspired to turn it into something I could never have envisioned.”

Madman Entertainment has secured the rights to distribute this new Australian feature film.

Paul Wiegard, Managing Director, Madman Entertainment said, "We’re thrilled to be working with Eric on his debut feature film as director. Love the Beast is not only about the bond between man & car, but serves as a remarkable journey through Eric’s life as an actor with his family & mates as cornerstones to his universe."

Love the Beast is currently in post-production and scheduled for release early next year.
