Essential Viewing completes formal split

Chris Hilton, Ian Collie and Sonja Armstrong, formerly trading under the name of Essential Viewing have rebranded their company Essential Media & Entertainment, following the launch of Goalpost Pictures last week.
This completes the rebranding of both halves of Essential Viewing, one being mainly involved in film production and the other mainly with TV.

“We’ve changed our name to reflect our expanded production activities in all sectors of media and entertainment with our eight in-house producers pursuing a diverse, creative mix of documentaries, factual entertainment, television drama, feature films and digital media. We’re only 3 years old but we’re growing rapidly,” said CEO Chris Hilton.
In the three years since its establishment in Sydney, Essential has grown to become one of Australia‘s largest producers of factual programs receiving commissions from some of the worlds major broadcasters including BBC, PBS, National Geographic and Discovery, and has worked with most local Australian broadcasters.

Highlights over this period have been Ten Pound Poms, The Floating Brothel, Policing the Pacific, In the Line of Fire, The Catalpa Rescue, Johnny Warren’s Football Mission and Is Your House Killing You?, with the latter recently being sold to Sundance Channel and UKTV.

During this time, the company traded under the Essential Viewing Group brand with RB Films, who recently formed a new drama production company Goalpost Pictures Australia.

Essential Media and Entertainment will continue to co-produce with Goalpost Pictures on a project by project basis such as the current telemovie and cross-platform drama production Scorched for the Nine Network and Granada International.
Essential Media & Entertainment will announce several exciting new projects over the coming weeks.
