Jo Martino.
Every Cloud Productions has hired experienced writer/producer Jo Martino in the newly created role of head of content as it plans to bring a diverse slate of projects from development to production.
Her appointment co-incides with Every Cloud’s Women in Front campaign, which celebrates women in front of and behind the scenes of the screen industry.
In 2015 its ABC drama Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries had the highest rate of female representation in production jobs, with females accounting for 75 per cent of the crew.
Martino was one of the writers on Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, which starred Essie Davis as a 1920s private detective, ran for three seasons on the ABC and was sold by All3Media International to more than 170 territories.
Every Cloud’s co-founders Fiona Eagger and Deb Cox plan to start shooting a theatrical movie spin-off, Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears, directed by Tony Tilse and scripted by Cox, later this year.
Last year Martino produced and was the script producer on season 5 of Playmaker Media’s House Husbands for the Nine Network.
Her writing credits include Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms, Satisfaction, Stingers, Something in the Air and Crash Burn. Also she was the co-creator of the female private eye series Carla Cametti P.D. for SBS.
Cox said: “Jo’s appointment reaffirms Every Cloud’s commitment to embedding writers within the company. I look forward to working with Jo and other creatives in what is shaping up to be one of our most exciting years of content development.”
Eagger said: “Jo brings vast experience in scripted content which will support Every Cloud Productions’ objective of making and delivering the highest quality scripted productions to audiences in Australia and internationally.“
Martino added: “With its expanding, talented team and diverse slate of projects, it’s a very exciting time at Every Cloud Productions.”
