In 2009 Flickerfest will be bringing the best of Australian Short Films from the cinema to the television screens of the nation in an exciting new partnership with the Movie EXTRA channel.
‘Flickerfest-on-EXTRA’ will be Australia’s first television series dedicated to short films, and will feature the most inspiring short stories ever produced in this country. The series will consist of 6 x half hour programmes, which will feature a selection of both new and classic award-winning highlights from the Flickerfest festival. The show will be hosted by Australia’s own Damian Walshe-Howling and will be broadcast on the Movie EXTRA channel in April 2009.
Throughout the series Damian will be talking to the directors, actors and producers, discussing the importance of short films, going behind the scenes with the filmmakers, and shining a spotlight on the creative process of their shorts. As an actor, but also a director of a short film himself, Damian provides an interesting insight into the art form that is short films.
Flickerfest is Australia’s premier International Short Film Festival. With such a high calibre of films entered every year, the selection of highlights chosen to air in the Movie EXTRA series was extremely competitive.
