Press release from Access PR
FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has sold Hit & Miss, the highly-anticipated new drama series created by award-winning producer Paul Abbott and starring Academy Award nominee Chloë Sevigny, to broadcasters in Australia, New Zealand and Israel.
Hit & Miss, which was originally commissioned by Sky Atlantic HD in the UK, has been picked up by ABC2 in Australia, TVNZ in New Zealand and HOT in Israel. These deals follow the announcement last year that DirecTV has acquired broadcast rights in the US.
The high-concept, provocative drama stars Chloë Sevigny as Mia, an assassin with a big secret: she's a transsexual woman. Her life is sent in to a tailspin when her terminally ill ex-girlfriend reveals Mia fathered a son 11 years ago. Faced with a difficult decision, she becomes the guardian to a new family, a choice that forces her to mix her killer instincts with her newly acquired maternal ones.
David Ellender, FME’s Global CEO, commented: “Hit & Miss has generated real excitement among international broadcasters in the months running up to MIPTV and I’m sure everyone will be talking about it this market. Paul Abbott and Sean Conway have created a powerful, must watch drama that will grip viewers across the globe, and we’re delighted to be bringing it to Australia, New Zealand and Israel.”
This is the latest project to come out of FME’s first look distribution deal with Paul Abbott’s production and development company AbbottVision. The series is a co-production between AbbottVision and Red Production Company. It is written by Sean Conway (Kings of London, Brilliant Love), and is executive produced by Paul Abbott, Nicola Shindler (Red Production Company) and Huw Kennair-Jones (Sky Atlantic).
Paul Abbott and Ana Garanito, FME’s Director of Scripted Programming, EMEA & Asia Pacific, will be discussing Hit & Miss in a special MIPTV panel. The ‘Creatives Speaking’ session takes place on Monday, 2nd April from 10.45am in auditorium A.
