Global deal for Vegan 101

An online sketch comedy series created by Los Angeles-based, Melbourne-born writer/producer/actor Joanne Rose is set to reach audiences worldwide on a variety of platforms.

US distributor/producer Fun Little Movies has acquired all three series of the show, Vegan 101, which stars Rose in highly exaggerated stories about vegans from all walks of life. The second season featured Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts.

FLM specialises in distributing advertiser-supported original comedy content on mobile devices, Video-on-Demand platforms and web channels including Daily Motion, Metacafe, Myxer, MyWaves and Vuze.

“I am so excited to team up with FLM for Vegan 101 to reach a worldwide audience through multi-platform distribution,” said Rose, who moved to the US when she was 19 and studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in Los Angeles.

Vegan 101 is already available on VoD platforms via IndieFlix and on YouTube. The series was developed from a short play, Vegan Set Up, which she wrote and performed in.

Via her company Vegan Vision Productions, she is developing the pilot for a half-hour, single-camera sitcom, Sex and the Single Vegan. Joanne will play Jennifer Richards, a single vegan woman who blogs about the misadventures of her dating life until her blog goes viral and she finds she has to deal with a world of non-vegans including the man, a top notch pastry-chef, she’s fallen for.

She’ll soon started pitching the project to US cable networks and has just begun writing another sitcom pilot, Life of Groupies.
