Leading Hollywood media adviser and innovation strategist, USC Professor and The Emmys Television Academy Governor of Interactive Media Seth Shapiro, gives Australia’s media creators and executives the playbook on how to create game-changing media content at his Multi-Screen Engagement Masterclass in Sydney and Melbourne next month.
Presented by the internationally acclaimed digital media think-tank X Media Lab, this Masterclass will arm media executives, creators and producers with the strategies and techniques that a brand new generation of media makers in Hollywood are employing in four critical areas:
The New Multi-Screen Properties: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad
The New Age of Distribution: Netflix and SVOD
The New Screen Generation: YouTube and Google
The New Marketing: Social Media and Screen Content
This is the first time that this Masterclass has been presented outside of Hollywood and Seth will specifically address the challenges Australian creators, producers and broadcasters are experiencing with the entrance of services such as Stan, Presto and Netflix into the media marketplace.
Seth is a leading expert in VOD, OTT, streaming and DVR services. He led the launch of TiVo for DIRECTV in 2001 – the world's first major DVR launch. He works with international distributors, networks and content providers to develop ideal platform and distribution strategies, and is a leading authority on the business models and deployment strategies of companies including Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Hulu, HBO, Comcast and Walt Disney. Seth is the Governor of Interactive Media at the Television Academy, a Professor at USC School of Cinematic Arts, and the author of the forthcoming book "Television – the world's most powerful medium."
According to Jay Samit and The Wall Street Journal: “If you want to know where the entertainment industry is heading – just follow Seth’s lead."
The Multi-Screen Engagement: The Secrets Behind the New Golden Age of Hollywood Masterclass takes place in Sydney on 18 May and in Melbourne on 20 May.
Participants are able to nominate their own project ideas to be workshopped one-on-one directly with Seth in a live-session.
