From Seventh Art Productions, the makers of In Search of Mozart, award-winning filmmaker Phil Grabsky returns with a new feature-length biographical film In Search of Beethoven. The two-hour documentary film In Search of Beethoven was premiered to over 1000 people at the Barbican Hall on 30th March 2009 at 7.30pm. The film has enjoyed record-breaking success in Chicago and is still screening in cinemas throughout the U.S.
In Search of Beethoven has brought together the world’s leading performers and experts on Beethoven to reveal new insights into this legendary composer. The line-up of performers and interviewees includes Gianandrea Noseda, Sir Roger Norrington, Riccardo Chailly, Claudio Abbado, Fabio Luisi, Frans Brüggen, Ronald Brautigam, Hélène Grimaud, Vadim Repin, Janine Jansen, Paul Lewis, Lars Vogt, and Emanuel Ax among others. The film will be narrated by Juliet Stevenson and young RSC actor David Dawson.
Phil Grabsky is one of the UK’s leading film-makers. He has specialized in arts, biographical and historical documentaries for over 20 years for television and cinema. Recent highlights have included the award-winning cinema films The Boy who Plays on the Buddhas of Bamiyan, Heavy Water – a Film for Chernobyl, Escape from Luanda and, of course, In Search of Mozart.
