ECU WA Screen Academy graduate, Eva Ramdohr, recently returned home after celebrating the success of her film, XO at the 21st International Student Short Film Festival, held in France last month.
The delightful, cross-cultural romantic comedy was co-written and directed by Eva Ramdohr in collaboration with co-writer Claudia Rondon, who also produced the film.
XO was commissioned by the City of Perth as part of an annual sponsorship initiative to make films featuring Perth locations.
The International Student Short Film Festival took place in the historical Cinema Paradiso in Cergy-Pontoise, near Paris, and showcased 30
outstanding productions from film schools around the world – ranging from Germany and Spain to the USA and India.
The recent graduate described her French experience as magical.
"I rubbed shoulders with famous industry professionals and spent a few days in Paris visiting film schools and taking in the sights," said Ms Ramdohr.
"It was a real honour to be selected amongst such great company. The quality of all entrants was impeccable and the selection that the International Student Festival put together was of incredibly high standard."
John Rapsey, Director of the WA Screen Academy, is very proud of his former student's success.
"It is great to have our films screened at international events. We have a lot of international students and plan to establish more of a presence overseas in the near future."
Ms Ramdohr's trip to France was made possible by assistance from the City of Perth, The Friends of the Academy and ECU's School of Communications and Arts.
XO has recently been selected to screen at the legendary Dungog Film Festival, held in New South Wales in late May.
