Screen professionals from Australia and South-East Asia are in Sydney this week taking part in the innovative Asia-Australia Media Executive Leadership Program hosted by the NSW Film and Television Office (FTO).

The FTO has partnered with Singapore’s Media Development Authority and ScreenWest to bring AAMELP to Sydney for the first time.

“The FTO welcomes all AAMELP participants to Sydney. The course is intense and participants must be committed and highly motivated individuals. As a graduate of AAMELP, I am very pleased that so many of my industry colleagues have taken up the challenge in the interests of further developing their careers and their critical thinking,” said Tania Chambers, CEO of the FTO.

AAMELP is a five-day course designed to develop entrepreneurial, strategic leadership and management skills to enable participants to strengthen their companies and to better meet the challenges of the evolving global marketplace. It is a partner program to the Leadership Program for European Media Executives held in Halle, Germany, and the North American Media Executive Program held in Banff, Canada, each year.

Participants in the program include Producers and Executive Producers, including Marion Macgowan (Macgowan Films), Martin Brown (Martin Brown Films), Ben Grant (Goalpost Pictures Australia), Heather Ogilvie (A Nice Picture Company), Aidan O’Bryan (WBMC); Development Producer Lisa Rossiter (Screentime); media executives including Paul Remati (Deputy CEO/Director of Content, National Indigenous Television), Jane Roscoe (Network Programmer, SBS Television), Katrina Southon (General Manager, Nickelodeon Australia); industry organisation representatives including Christina Alvarez (General Manager, Metro Screen); Bethwyn Serow (Production Executive, SPAA); Lena Nahlous (Director, Information and Cultural Exchange); Judith Bowtell (Manager, Policy, FTO); industry consultant Susanne Larson and Sook Tan, Assistant Director (Media Development Authority, Singapore).

AAMELP offers a unique and proven blend of disciplined exposure to high-level industry specific information, senior level leadership and management training, and personal inventories to better assess individual strengths and weakness as well as insights into team-building and performance.
