Jan Russ leads casting for The Chickabees

Jan Russ, one of Australia’s leading casting directors and producers, is on board the Teen Musical Feature The Chickabees.

The film is about a Girl Band that tries to become world famous by winning an online music competition. Along the way the girls learn that friendship is more important than fame.

Its a music movie for teenagers based on the series of novels Starring The Chickabees by Australian Author Margaret Clark

The film is being produced by Ocean Road Films in Association with Screen Actors Australia. Jan will be leading the casting team and casting will soon commence in Brisbane, Geelong, Ballarat, Melbourne, Sydney & Hobart.

The Chickabees will be directed by John McGlynn who has developed the film for several years. He said, "We are looking 12 young actors for the main cast they must excel in either Acting, Singing, Playing Instruments or Dancing". There are also a number of other great non singing supporting roles for young actors we will be looking to cast.

Music in the film is being created by Australian music legend an d multiple Aria Award nominee Richard Pleasance. He also composed the theme music for Australian television series, Sea Change (1998–2001) and for 2006 feature film Kenny

John produced a promotional music video which has attracted the interest of a US home video distributor. They have an interest in the film and are now discussing distribution.

When casting is complete the producers hope to also attract Australian Cinema and home video distribution.
