Former ABC director of television Kim Dalton has been appointed as a director of Screenrights – a multimillion dollar collection society which pays royalties to producers, writers and directors.
The appointment is the result of elections, which were announced at the Screenrights Annual General Meeting on October 29 at the company’s headquarters in Sydney.
Dalton was also previously Australian Film Commission chief executive and manager of development and acquisition at Beyond International.
Screenrights director of nine years and SBS Corporate Counsel, Sally McCausland, was not re-elected.
Independent producer and current chair, Jill Bryant, director, corporate strategy and planning at ABC and current deputy Chairman, David Anderson and media consultant, lawyer and company director, Jack Ford, will all return as directors.
Bryant said the election results would further enrich the skill base of the Screenrights board and would ensure that Screenrights continued as an active participant in the contemporary industry.
"The expertise and guidance of these directors will strengthen Screenrights’ ability to provide access to audio-visual content whilst collecting and distributing income for rights holders," she said.
"We thank all Screenrights voting members for their participation in this year’s elections.”
Bryant also paid tribute to outgoing director, Sally McCausland.
“Over the past nine years Sally has made an outstanding contribution to the governance of Screenrights through her expertise, direction and enthusiasm,” she said.
