Filmmakers have until sunset on Friday September 16 to enter the 2016 Port Shorts Film Festival and be eligible to win a weekend in tropical Port Douglas as the Port Shorts First Finalist Filmmaker.
More than $15,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs in the 2016 Port Shorts Film Festival, showcasing cool short films in the heart of the tropics.
While filmmakers have until September 30 to enter the 2016 Port Shorts Film Festival, filmmakers who get in early are in with a chance to be chosen as the First Finalist and win two nights at the chic QT Port Douglas resort, dinner for two at Bazaar Restaurant and VIP entry to the Port Shorts Production Lounge.
Port Shorts Film Festival Director Alison George said organisers were keen to showcase Australia’s most creative emerging filmmakers and celebrate their achievements.
“We’ve got some great short films entered already, but we think there’s still plenty of fantastic stories waiting to be shared out there,” Ali said.
“If you’re a short filmmaker and you haven’t entered Port Shorts yet to be in with a chance to share in more than $15,000 in cash and prizes, see your film on the big screen with hundreds of film lovers under the stars in the tropics and be mentored by some of Australia’s most respected film industry figures then do yourself a favour and put your film in before it’s too late.”
Champion Aussie actor Stephen Curry will once again be joined by Wolf Creek Executive Producer Matt Hearn and Australian Film Industry Award-nominated screenwriter Kier Shorey (Blurred) as ambassadors and judges of the Port Shorts Film Festival, to be held under the stars in Port Douglas on October 28-29, with Steve to entertain the audience as MC.
The Port Shorts Ambassadors will also be joined by Screen Queensland on the panel for the free Port Shorts Filmmakers Forum to be held on October 29 before the curtain rises on the film festival.
