Following its successful world premiere at the Sydney Film Festival, Bolderpictures is proud to announce that its debut feature film Little Sparrows has been selected to screen at the upcoming Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF).
Directed and produced by Taiwan-born Yu-Hsiu Camille Chen, Little Sparrows tells the story of Susan, her three daughters and the choices they confront when her breast cancer returns. It is a truthful and affective drama shedding light on both the fears and desires of men and women as they find the need to love and be loved.
“The positive reception from our Sydney audiences was both encouraging and humbling. As a privately-funded independent feature, we have worked extremely hard to promote our film,” said Ms Chen.
“MIFF is such an exciting opportunity for us and we cannot wait to be a part of it.”
According to MIFF Head of Programming Michelle Carey, Little Sparrows was an obvious choice for its Homegrown category.
“Little Sparrows was a real standout in the Australian films this year. It heralds a new voice in independent Australian filmmaking and shows there are still important things to say within the family-drama genre,” said Ms Carey.
With offices in Australia and China, Bolderpictures is an independent film production company that brings together the best filmmaking resources the region has to offer with the aim of producing quality feature films that appeal to both Western and Asian markets.
Shot and produced entirely in Western Australia, Little Sparrows continues to garner critical acclaim on the festival circuit.
