[press release from AFI Fest]

AFI Fest 2008 presented by Audi announces an outstanding line-up of Australian and New Zealand films, to screen at the international film festival in Hollywood between October 30 and November 9.

Feature-length films include the US premiere of Matthew Newton’s THREE BLIND MICE, a whip-smart comedy drama that follows three naval officers on their last night on the town before heading to the Gulf; and NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD, a wild, wonderful documentary detailing the untold story of “Ozploitation” films, from director and screenwriter Mark Hartley.

A tribute to the late Heath Ledger will also be held at AFI Fest, with the special screening of Gregor Jordan’s NED KELLY on Tuesday, November 4.

Australian short JERRYCAN, from screenwriter and director Julius Avery, is also in the 2008 lineup, alongside New Zealand short CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE, EUGENE from screenwriter and director Jason Stutter. CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE, EUGENE will have its North American premiere at the festival.
