Press release from Creation Box Films
Creation Box Films is proud to announce that its debut feature-length documentary 'More 4 Me' will be screening as part of Anti-Poverty Week – in conjunction with Mission Australia – on Wednesday 19 October in Western Australia’s Pilbara Region.
In the face of the global financial crisis, 'More 4 Me' follows WA director/writer Lincoln Fenner as he travels across five continents to some of the most poverty-stricken locations in search of why we constantly crave for ‘more’.
Most recently the film won the Times Square Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature at the New York City International Film Festival.
Anti-Poverty Week consists of a nationwide series of events which are an expansion of the United Nation's annual International Anti-Poverty Day.
“We’re very happy to be a part of this event as it really ties in really well with the message of the film and why we made it”, said Fenner.
'More 4 Me' was shot with a two-man crew over an intensive four-week period. Nearly 200 interviews were recorded in 13 locations across seven countries and five continents – from home of Hollywood actor Vincent Jerosa ('Carlito’s Way', 'Crocodile Dundee II') to remote Cambodian villages with the leading lady of the Australian stage Marina Prior ('Phantom of the Opera', 'Les Miserables').
From the outset, Fenner set a mandate to donate 75% of the film’s profits to the aid organisations in the film. As a result Creation Box was recently able to donate AUD$11,000 across the five major charities.
Mission Australia’s WA Chaplain Scott Vawser said:
“I have seen 'More 4 Me' five times now. Each time I feel more conviction for my engagement with the poor and those far less privileged than myself. I love the way the film shows people ‘just like me’ and how extremely luxurious my way of life is in comparison to so many”.
According to Vawser, 'More 4 Me' is making an inspirational impact on those working within his organisation.
“Mission Australia staff and volunteers who have seen the film have commented on how inspired they were to continue their work amongst the underprivileged of our city and beyond.”
'More 4 Me' will screen at 7:30pm on Wednesday 19 October in South Hedland, Western Australia. To attend please contact Kathleen Nelson on 0400 828 653 or at NelsonK@missionaustralia.com.au.
