New Australian Horror Film ‘The Lighthouse’ in Pre-Production

Press Release

Australia’s new horror film is creeping out from the shadows with up-and-coming producers Craig Henry and Renta Burt currently in pre-production and preparing to launch an exciting new crowd-funding event for their feature film The Lighthouse.

Having created Australia’s very first mobile phone film festival ‘Mobile Screen Fest 2010, 2011’, Craig is also in the director’s chair for this feature and has his eye on creating a great horror experience.

Craig penned The Lighthouse together with fellow screenwriter and classic monster movie fan Ed Martinez. The story follows a group of youngsters who head out on a weekend boat trip to spread the ashes of recently departed friend. When their plans go awry, they come across an abandoned lighthouse which hides a horrifying secret.

“We’ve brought together a crew of accomplished film enthusiasts that have worked on a range of productions including Smallville and The Great Gatsby along with up-and-coming creatives who are looking to forge their way in the industry,” says Craig.

Craig himself is no stranger to the entertainment business. Having directed many live cabaret shows for Phoenix 3 Entertainment and many of Sydney’s iconic venues, such as the Imperial Hotel and the Oxford Hotel, he was also nominated twice as Young Australian of the Year for his contribution to the arts.

Both Craig and co-producer Renata were students of Dov Simens, the renowned filmmaking instructor and founder of the Hollywood Film Institute. Among Simens’ students have been Hollywood A-listers Will Smith and George Clooney and producer/directors Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie.

Craig is convinced audiences are hungry for unpretentious entertainment.

“I want to create a new atmosphere in horror, while also looking to reboot the old monster movie genre. Big scares, loud music, the works.”
