NSW Mining supports Dungog Film Festival’s Skills Development Program

Press release from Lighthouse Communications

Budding actors, film makers and those interested in Australian film will enjoy an expanded range of educational activities at this year’s Dungog Film Festival (DFF) following the announcement of NSW Mining as Skills Development Program partner.

The Skills Development Program encompasses a range of screen workshops and seminars presented by leading professionals during the festival, the Oovie Student Film Project – a mentorship program for NSW high schools – and In the Raw – a bi-monthly theatrical presentation of an unproduced Australian screenplay read live by professional actors.

Throughout the festival, there are broad range of educational events which are presented by industry partners including APRA, Australian Writers Guild (AWG), Australian Director’s Guild (ADG), Screen Producers Association of Australian (SPAA), and National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA).

The announcement sees NSW Mining continue its support of DFF which undertakes a series of activities to promote Australian film throughout the year, including the four day Dungog Film Festival which will run from Thursday to Sunday (26-29th May, 2011).

Festival Director Allanah Zitserman said NSW Mining has been a loyal and vital supporter of the festival since 2008 and it is fantastic to see them continue to support the industry and community of Dungog.

“It’s great to have NSW Mining on board for 2011. They have been an important supporter of the festival and helped build a solid foundation through their principal presenting sponsorship over the last three years. We are excited about the new opportunities they can bring to DFF through our Skills Development Program in 2011,” said Ms Zitserman.

NSW Mining CEO Dr Nikki Williams said the Dungog Film Festival was a world class event that NSW Mining was proud to be associated with.

“We have watched the Dungog Film Festival grow from a four day festival to a successful year long program and are excited to once again offer our support to the world’s biggest celebration of Australian film,” Dr Williams said.

“NSW Mining believes in fostering creative talent and driving educational initiatives that impact, inspire and energise the community, which is what we have seen the Dungog Film Festival do over the past five years.

“We believe we can provide great support for the many festival initiatives, particularly across the education programs.”

In addition to NSW Mining the festival is supported by a wide array of sponsors from DVD rental company Oovie, clothing outfit Mambo, urban bag designers Crumpler, CountryLink, Preferred Media and industry studios Roadshow and Sony.
