Arts Culture and Heritage Minister Christopher Finlayson announced today three new appointments, including a new chair, to the board of the New Zealand Film Commission.
Patsy Reddy, Rhiannon Evans and Charles Finny have been appointed for terms of three years, beginning on 1 July.
“I am very pleased to announce these extremely capable new appointments at this very exciting time for the Film Commission,” said Mr Finlayson. “It has a highly qualified new chief executive, Graeme Mason, and is being reviewed by two experts in New Zealand Film, Peter Jackson and David Court, to ensure it is best able to meet the needs of the modern film industry.”
Patsy Reddy will be the new Chair. She has held a number of corporate directorships including Telecom, New Zealand Post, Air New Zealand, and Sky City Entertainment, along with a broad range of creative and community sector governance roles.
“Patsy Reddy brings enormous experience and years of contribution in the creative sector to the role of chair of the Film Commission,” Mr Finlayson said.
Charles Finny has a held a range of positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and is a regular commentator one economic, environmental, and trade policy. He is the CEO of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce.
“With Charles Finny’s appointment I want to encourage the cross-pollination of ideas between these two government bodies which have similar goals as far as promoting the creative industries of New Zealand abroad,” Mr Finlayson said.
Rhiannon Evans, from Christchurch, has relationship, analytical, and commercial experience with investment banking in New Zealand and London.
“Rhiannon Evans brings a strong base of skills for the decision making required on the Film Commission board,” Mr Finlayson said.
