Good Pitch² Australia is reminding filmmakers that the deadline for 2015 submissions is just four weeks away. Submissions must be completed by COB on March 4.
The international forum for social impact documentaries will return to the Sydney Opera House on September 16 after the successful inaugural event in October 2014.
In 2014, more than 60 powerful new strategic partnerships were forged and over $2 million in philanthropic funding was committed to fund production, build audiences and ensure the lasting impact of the seven outstanding documentary films presented at the 2014 event. .
The leading international forum for documentary filmmaking, Good Pitch brings together filmmakers with foundations, not-for-profits, campaigners, philanthropists, policymakers, broadcasters and key players in the film industry, around leading social and environmental issues, to forge coalitions and campaigns that are good for all these partners, good for the films and good for society.
The event in Australia is co-hosted by Shark Island Institute and Documentary Australia Foundation. The event was devised by the BRITDOC Foundation and the Sundance Institute, with the generous support of the Ford Foundation
Once again in 2015, feature-length documentary projects will be chosen to present at the Sydney Opera House on September 16.
Filmmakers will need to submit a trailer or key sequence from their film plus a 2-minute video. Projects are distinguished by the film team’s availability and commitment to building a community engagement and outreach strategy.

What we are looking for:
• Outstanding feature length films that tackle a significant social issue or have something important to show us about the world and ourselves
• Films of any style – personal, observational, essays, presenter-led, verité
• Films across a range of genres (eg. social justice and human rights, environment and all aspects of the Arts)
• Films from production to completion and even early festival circuit; although rough-cut stage is ideal
• Films of 60+ minutes in length
After the final projects are selected, the team will work intensively with the selected filmmakers to further develop the funding and impact strategy for each project. The filmmaker teams will attend development, pitching and campaign workshops with local and international partners at the Shark Island Institute Kangaroo Valley.
