OPTUS ONE80PROJECT announces top 10 entries

OPTUS, MTV Networks Australia and Samsung Mobile have announced the short-listed 10 finalists in the search to win a full-length drama production shown on MTV Networks Australia. Judges Alex Dimitriades, Emily Barclay and Neil Armfield will join MTV Networks Australia’s Executive Producer Ean Thorley in selecting the judge’s choice winning entry set to air on MTV Networks in 2008. A second winner will also be chosen by a public vote via SMS voting and website voting  http://www.one80project.com.au/

MTV Networks Australia Executive Producer, Ean Thorley, responsible for selecting the short-listed Top 10 says, ‘This year’s competition has attracted an exceptionally high caliber of entrants with submissions that have been varied in subject as well as origin. We have a great short-list of story ideas that represent many genres, from talent across the country. Choosing a winner this year will certainly not be an easy task.’

As of December 7 the short-listed 10 entries will enter a 7 week voting period giving the public an opportunity to select a ‘viewers choice’ before the panel of judges pronounce the official winner of the OPTUS ONE80PROJECT. The short-listed pilots can be downloaded or streamed to your mobile phone and viewed on the competition website.  Viewers can vote for their favourite pilot via a short code from their mobile phone or at the competition website http://www.one80project.com.au/ Everyone who gets involved and votes for their favourite pilot will go in the draw to win some great Samsung prizes. Every week for 7 weeks we will give away a Samsung F500 mobile phone and a Samsung DVD Camcorder to someone who has voted that week!

And at the end of the voting period anyone who has voted will go in the draw to win one of 5 Samsung prize packs that include: Samsung F500 mobile phone valued at $1,099 (inc GST), Samsung DVD camcorder – VPDC171Wi valued at $629 (inc GST) and Samsung 32” LCD TV – LA32R81BD valued at $2199 (inc GST).

All 10 final entries will be screened at the OPTUS ONE80PROJECT festival on 27 January 2008. Both judges choice and viewers choice winners will also be announced, each receiving $10,000 and a Samsung prize pack including a Samsung F500 mobile phone. The Judges Choice however will get the opportunity to work with MTV production experts and an executive producer at MTV Australia’s production facilities to develop and shape their original pilot into a full-length multi-platform drama. The completed final drama will be shown on MTV and will be accessible via the Optus ZOO mobile portal.
