Red Billabong.
Pinnacle Films will handle theatrical distribution and home release throughout Australia and New Zealand for Australian creature feature Red Billabong.
Pinnacle is eyeing a mid-year release, with a full trailer to be released early next month.
The company has previously distributed Predestination, Healing, Return to Nim’s Island and the John Jarratt thriller Stalkher, making genre fare like Red Billabong "a natural addition" to Pinnacle's slate, the company said in a statement.
Red Billabong stars Home and Away's Dan Ewing and Dance Academy's Tim Pocock, alongside Sophie Don, Jessica Green (Lightning Point), Ben Chisholm, John Reynolds, Emily Joy, James Straiton, Felix Williamson (Underbelly: Razor, The Great Gatsby) and Gregory Fryer (The Sapphires).
"We're thrilled to be working with the likes of Pinnacle Films", said writer-director Luke Sparke.
"The films they have released speak for themselves. I'm very excited to have Red Billabong coming to Australian audiences and I hope they will get a kick out of the film. It’s action packed, funny, exciting and a story about Australian mythology they haven't heard of before."
Sparke describes the plot thus:
“In the Australian Outback, two brothers discover old secrets and family lies. As their friends start to go missing they fear they are being stalked by someone or something from their worst nightmares. Is it a story, a legend, a hoax? Or is it real?”
