Prime Minister to open new Film Commission premises

The Prime Minister, Helen Clark, will officially open the New Zealand Film Commission’s new offices this Wednesday, 8 August 2007 at 4.30pm.

The New Zealand Film Commission comes under the Prime Minister’s portfolio in her role as Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage.

The New Zealand Film Commission was established in 1978 by an Act of the New Zealand parliament and has the statutory responsibility to encourage and participate and assist in the making, promotion, distribution and exhibition of films made in New Zealand by New Zealanders.

The Commission has moved into new premises after the lease on its previous offices expired and the landlord signalled his intention to convert the building into apartments.
