Josh Lawson’s directorial debut THE LITTLE DEATH commences production in Sydney Lisa McCune, Bojana Novakovic, Damon Herriman, Kate Mulvany, Kim Gyngell and more join cast
Ticket to Ride is pleased to announce that filming commences today, Monday July 29, 2013, for Josh Lawson’s directorial debut, THE LITTLE DEATH. The shoot will take place over the next four weeks in twenty unique Sydney locations, and feature eleven lead actors.
Following a meteoric rise in front of the camera in the US series House of Lies and upcoming feature film Anchorman 2, Lawson has chosen to return to Australia to direct the film, which he has not only written, but will also star in.
THE LITTLE DEATH is an outrageous comedy about sex, secrets, fate and fetish, that treads the line between love and taboo. Told in five parts, the film explores the lives of five seemingly normal couples and their five eccentric desires. Lawson will be joined by a stellar ensemble Australian cast including Lisa McCune (Reef Doctors, Sea Patrol, Blue Heelers), Bojana Novakovic (new US series Rake, Satisfaction), Damon Herriman (100 Bloody Acres, Offspring), Kate Mulvany (The Great Gatsby, The Turning), Kim Gyngell (Lowdown, The Straits, Love and Other Catastrophes), Kate Box (Rake, The Black Balloon), Alan Dukes (Devil’s Dust, Carlotta), Patrick Brammall (A Moody Christmas, Power Games, Griff the Invisible), TJ Power (The Sapphires, Eat Pray Love), Tasneem Roc (Reef Doctors, Not Suitable for Children), Ben Lawson (No Strings Attached, Don’t Trust the B__ in Apartment 23), Lachy Hulme (Power Games, Offspring) and newcomer Erin James.
Lawson says: “The Little Death is a project very close to me and I’m so proud to be making it here in Australia. It’s a comedy that looks at sex in a very contemporary way, it’s daring but it has a heart. I am so thrilled to work with such a talented cast of actors, and we have a great team behind us.” Lawson adds: “Directing has always been a priority for me, and I’m really excited and looking forward to the process.”
Jamie Hilton and Michael Petroni are producing for Ticket to Ride. Hilton says: “We’re delighted to be producing Josh’s directorial debut. He’s a huge talent both in front of and behind the camera. The Little Death is one of the most original and bold screenplays we’ve read in years, and we’re excited to bring it to the screen.”
Phil Hunt joins the project as executive producer for Head Gear films alongside Josh Pomeranz, Stephen Boyle and Viv Scanu. Matt Reeder will produce for See Pictures alongside Petroni and Hilton THE LITTLE DEATH will be released in Australia by Hopscotch/eONE. Bankside Films will manage international sales rights.
Shooting wraps at the end of August. PostRproduction will take place in Sydney.
