Quickflix partners with Kogan for unlimited TV streaming service

Movie rental house Quickfix and local technology manufacturer Kogan plan to release a wi-fi adapter which will allow online streaming to any television set.

The portable HDMI dongle will be pre-loaded with Quickflix's 'all-you-can-view' subscription service, which offers unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows. Quickflix launched its online streaming service last October and has quickly expanded its distribution platforms across a range of devices.

In a joint statement, Quickflix executive chairman Stephen Langsford and chief executive Chris Taylor said the new partnership partnership with Kogan will bring unlimited streaming entertainment to Australians without the need for a set-top box.

"We are bringing to market a whole new experience for householders without pay-TV. Kogan have been extremely successful in designing and retailing quality, affordable audio-visual products and we are delighted to be working with them.”

The company posted a $13.97 million annual net loss last year as it continued its strategy of aggressively growing customer numbers and revenue.

Prior to the Kogan announcement, Quickflix said it had engaged advisers and commenced a formal process with potential local and international strategic investors, which may lead to one or more of them partnering, investing or merging with the company. In February, Time Warner's Home Box Office (HBO) took a 16 per cent stake in the company.
