Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling is understood to be in talks to star in outback racing film Dust and Glory.
The actor was recently spotted in Melbourne where meetings were held. Dust and Glory producer Robert Galinsky said: “We're in discussions overseas with a variety of options.”
The actor, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in 2006 drama Half Nelson, is also rumoured to be in the running for the lead role of Christian Grey in the big screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.
Dust and Glory is based on the legendary 1950s Redex trials: a 10,000 mile car race around Australia.
Late last year, Simon West agreed to direct the Australian outback adventure. West's The Expendables 2 was recently released and his credits also include Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The General’s Daughter and Con Air.
