[press release from SAFC]
The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) congratulates director Luke Jurevicius whose latest project Figaro Pho has been nominated for a Logie in the Most Outstanding Children’s Program category.
Figaro Pho is a 3D animation series that tells the story of Figaro, a poor soul with an entire alphabet of phobias. Whether it be arachnophobia, bromidrosiphobia, chorophobia, dermatosiophobia, emetophobia, felinophobia, or the fear of telephones, vegetables, beards or peanut butter sticking to the roof of his mouth, there is barely a phobia that Figaro has not suffered!
Funded through the SAFC/ABC Digital Animation Initiative, the 26×1 minute episodes will begin screening weekdays on ABC tomorrow, Tuesday 7 April at 4.59pm.
Figaro Pho was created by local animator, illustrator, music composer and director Luke Jurevicius of Vishus Productions. Luke has illustrated over 400 children’s books and won the 2007 APRA/AGSC Award for "Best Music for Children’s Television" for Dust Echoes series 2.
Creative consultant on the project, Deane Taylor is well known for his Art Direction on Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
SAFC CEO, Richard Harris said, “Figaro Pho is a wonderful animated series that has been a long time in the making, so it is fantastic to finally be able to unleash it. The SAFC is proud to have supported the project and Luke is a very talented artist who has a bright future ahead of him. We wish him well at the Logies.”
There will also be an online component to the series in the form of an adventure game incorporating episodes and mini-games. Figaro will be available on ABC iView from Wednesday 8 April.
