Screen Australia’s Christmas stocking has grown once again.
The national screen agency has invested in 28 projects – including five feature films and three TV drama series – worth almost $18 million that will trigger production worth $84 million.
“It’s great to end the year on a high note announcing such a diverse slate,” Screen Australia chief executive Ruth Harley said in a statement.
The five feature films receiving funding include Richard Gray’s Summer Coda, See-Saw Films’ Dead Europe, Goalpost Pictures’ The Sapphires, Dragonet Films’ Venice and dark comedy The King Is Dead!
The three TV drama series include Jane Campion’s mystery/thriller drama mini-series Top Of The Lake, Southern Star Entertainment’s Wild Boys and novel-based The Phryne Fisher Murder Mystery Series.
Other projects include two low-budget TV dramas – Danger 5 and TwentySomething, one children’s TV series – The Adventures of Figaro Pho – and 17 documentaries.
