Screen Australia's Senior Manager of Producer Offset and Co-production Alex Sangston will move to Screen Tasmania as the new Executive Manager.

“Alex has been with us from the very beginning of Screen Australia in 2008 and has built the Offset and Co-production department into an incredibly valuable resource for our local industry,” said Screen Australia CEO Graeme Mason.

“Although we’re sad to bid Alex farewell, his appointment at Screen Tasmania is well deserved and we all wish him a hearty congratulations.”

“Screen Australia and Screen Tasmania have a long history of working together, most recently on Death or Liberty, The Kettering Incident and the soon-to-film series Rosehaven, and we’re sure this relationship will continue to grow under Alex’s leadership.”

The move signals a homecoming for Sangston, who grew up in Launceston and attended the University of Tasmania.

“I’ve loved working at Screen Australia and it’s been so rewarding to see the offset grow into a mainstay of the production sector,” Sangston said.

“I’ve been pleased to witness how the offset and co-production programs have encouraged the industry to see their work on an international scale, right from how finance can be raised to what stories can be told.”

“I’ve been blessed with incredibly diligent and hardworking colleagues who keep the offset and co-production programs going, and I will miss them. But it’s time to go home, and I’m very much looking forward to working with the team at Screen Tasmania. There are exciting times ahead.”

Sangston will depart Screen Australia on February 5, and his role will be advertised on Screen Australia's website in February.
