Press release from SPAAmart
The Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) today announced that applications are now open for the 8th Annual feature film market, SPAAmart 2010, which will take place during the annual SPAA Conference in November.
SPAAmart is calling for unique and distinct projects that are at an advanced stage of development and ready to present to the market for financing, sales and distribution.
SPAAmart was launched in 2003 with the aim of bringing the best Australasian feature projects to the attention of local and international financiers. Films that have previously participated in SPAAmart as a launching pad include Clubland, West, Noise, The Home Song Stories, Lucky Miles, Romulus My Father, The Last Ride, Beautiful Kate, The Cedar Boys and most recently Beneath Hill 60.
The calibre and range of key financing executives taking part in SPAAmart is a testament to international interest in Australian film, and this year will be no exception, with international representatives that all have a keen interest in engaging with Australian film as potential financiers, distributors and sales agents.
Says SPAAmart Director Julie Marlow, “Over the last seven years, we have built a solid reputation as the Australian financing event of the year for international distributors and financiers. Events like SPAAmart occupy an increasingly important space as global competition for finance becomes more acute. This year, we are attracting high profile and entrepreneurial international executives to SPAAmart to have in-depth meetings, where we will present them with the best of market-ready financeable films that are capable of utilising the Producer Offset”.
Entries for selection now open and will close at 5.00pm on 27 August 2010. Guidelines and application forms are available from http://www.spaa.org.au/conference.
