Stan and Lionsgate have announced they will take Lingo Pictures’ epic family drama Prosper through to commission, with production to take place in NSW.

Written by Matt Cameron, Liz Doran, Louise Fox and Belinda Chayko, the series is set in the inner sanctum of a family bound together by unfathomable wealth and unchecked power as they build an evangelical megachurch hell-bent on global domination.

Prosper is one of three titles Stan announced it was developing with Lionsgate back in March, with the other two Aquarius Films and Dollhouse Pictures’ drama The Geography of Friendship and Jungle Entertainment’s outback crime comedy Population 11.

Lingo’s Jason Stephens and Helen Bowden produce Prosper alongside Andrew Walker, with Stan chief content officer Cailah Scobie and head of scripted Amanda Duthie to executive produce for the streamer. Further casting and production announcements are expected shortly.

Scobie described Prosper as a prestige drama, and said its exploration of the consequences of unbridled power and desire were timely.

“Today’s commissioning announcement marks only the beginning of our expanded partnership with Lionsgate, as we continue to work together to develop and commission even more premium Stan Originals,” she said.

Lionsgate President of international television Agapy Kapouranis said: “We’re excited to kick off our pact with Stan with such a powerful drama. This is just the first of the many opportunities our collaboration can tap in Australia and around the world.”

Screen Australia has provided major production investment, with the assistance of the NSW Government via Screen NSW and the Made in NSW Fund. Screen Australia and Screen NSW also provided development support.

Lionsgate will manage international sales.
