Stuart Monksfield re-joins Cutting Edge to head-up technical operations in Sydne

Cutting Edge is continuing to expand in Sydney in all areas of Features, Commercials and Reality TV post production services. To architect that expansion and technically oversee their existing facilities at Chippendale and the Entertainment Quarter (EQ), they have recruited internationally to get the right person.

Stuart Monksfield, formerly Engineering Manager at Cutting Edge’s Brisbane headquarters, has re-joined them in Sydney after a two year period working for Thomson Grass Valley in Frankfurt, Germany.

‘We needed a thorough and technically experienced person to spear head our future growth plans in Sydney, with specialist knowledge in Colour Science, DI workflows and mainstream post production techniques and we knew exactly where to look,’ said Michael Burton, Managing Director ‘Stuart was missed in Brisbane when he moved to Germany in 2005, and we are delighted we could entice him back to work with us again to manage things in Sydney’.

Monksfield spent 14 years working for Sony Broadcast & Professional Europe in a variety of engineering and product marketing roles, including a three year assignment with Sony Australia. In 2002 he emigrated to Brisbane to join Cutting Edge as Engineering Manager, where he played a key role in building their purpose built 4000m2 Brisbane facility and at the same time established the new Chippendale facility. He joined Thomson Grass Valley in Germany in mid-2005 as world-wide Workflow Manager and Director of Business Development for their Post Production Solutions division, which amongst other things makes the Spirit4K DataCine. This role allowed him to work closely with many of the biggest names in post production in the USA and Europe, including Technicolor, a Thomson owned company.

‘I had a fantastic time in Germany, as did my family, but I am delighted to back in Australia. I already feel right at home again in Sydney and at Cutting Edge,’ said Monksfield. ‘When John Lee and Michael Burton approached me I was still planning to be in Germany for another three years. But when they explained the exciting direction they wanted to take the Sydney business, I knew it would be foolish to turn down such an opportunity’.

Cutting Edge have made a number of key senior appointments in recent weeks, and together with the appointment of Monksfield they are set to build further on their success in Sydney and Australia.
