Disney/Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' scored the best opening for the franchise and the second highest opening of the year so far behind 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie'.
Mario number one, indeed. Audiences were almost just as enthusiastic about 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' in its second weekend as they were in its first, with the animated title dropping only 7 per cent to earn $9.8 million.
Exhibitors are pleased with the opening weekend of 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves', though it didn't quite roll enough to steal pole position from 'John Wick: Chapter 4'.
'John Wick: Chapter 4' made light work of 'Shazam: Fury of the Gods' at the box office on the weekend, blasting its way to the top with $6.4 million from 542 screens.
