Foxtel has confirmed it has inked a new multi-year deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to allow it to continue as the local platform for HBO, Max Originals, Warner Bros., and Discovery programming.
Both Amazon and Netflix have welcomed the prospect of consulting with the Federal Government on a formal investment obligation in their National Cultural Policy submissions, but called for a "broad and flexible" definition of Australian content.
The proposal to halve Foxtel's local drama quota will have a contractionary impact on the industry, reduce jobs and damage cultural outcomes, according to screen industry guilds and organisations.
