The Home Song Stories and The Jammed are the big winners at the 2007 Inside Film

The winners of the 2007 Inside Film Awards have been revealed at an event dominated by two films – The Home Song Stories and The Jammed. Hosted by Julia Zemiro, the star studded event was held at the Crowne Plaza Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast and was broadcast live on SBS.
The Home Song Stories was the winner in five categories with Tony Ayres winning The Animal Logic IF Award for Best Director and his young star, 13 year old Joel Lok winning The Queensland Event Corporation IF Award for Best Actor. Further success for The Home Song Stories came in the form of Joan Chen as the winner of The In Style IF Award for Best Actress for her sensational central performance. The Home Song Stories also won The Kodak IF Award for Best Cinematography (Nigel Bluck) and The Production Book IF Award for Best Production Design (Melinda Doring).
The SHOWTIME IF Award for Best Film went to The Jammed, one of the most talked about Australian films of the year and the winner of a total of three awards from six nominations. It also won the IF Award for Best Music (Grant Innes McLachlan) and The Australian Film Commission IF Award for Best Script (Dee McLachlan).
Noise was the recipient of two awards – The Cutting Edge IF Award for Best Editing, which went to Geoff Hitchins and The Zig Zag Lane IF Award for Best Sound which went to Sound Designer and Mixer Emma Bortignon, Sound Mixer Doron Kipen and Sound Recordist Phillipe Decrausaz.
Kath Shelper and Warwick Thornton’s Nana won The Holding Redlich IF Award for Best Short Film and The Lab IF Award for Best Short Animation went to Lucinda Schreiber for her film The Goat That Ate Time. The IF Award for Best Documentary went to Michael Noonan’s Unlikely Travellers and the SBS IF Award for Best Short Documentary was won by Rhonda Hagan’s Nigger Lovers
The inaugural 3 IF Award for Best Music Video was presented to filmmaker to watch Natasha Pincus for her clip God Told Me To for Paul Kelly.
This year’s Atlab IF Award for Rising Talent went to writer, director and cinematographer Bonnie Elliott whose body of work as a cinematographer impressed the panel. The Independent Spirit IF Award was presented to Julian Shaw for his film Darling! The Pieter-Dirk Uys Story, which superbly filled the award criteria of the creation of a film that despite highly limited resources, demonstrated the creativity, tenacity, and independence of vision required to make a compelling film.
The ZTudio What IF? Award for Best Unproduced Screenplay went to Luke Preston for The Adventures of  Abigail Storm. Luke’s prize gives him the opportunity to fly overseas to a country of his choice in order to meet and pitch to agents or producers.
George Miller was the recipient of the prestigious Living Legend IF Award and his film Happy Feet was the winner of The Film Finance IF Award for Box Office Achievement.
Rachael Turk, the editor of Inside Film Magazine announced that The Adelaide Film Festival was the winner of The Inside Film Magazine IF Award for Festival of the Year.
Clare Sawyer, Inside Film Awards General Manager commented: ‘The Inside Film Awards has just celebrated its ninth year with a great awards night that acknowledges and celebrates the creativity and diversity of the Australian film industry. There was a real range of films awarded tonight and that’s a testament to the talent and health of the Independent film scene in this country.’
The Inside Film Awards
The Inside Film Awards were hosted by Julia Zemiro from the Crowne Plaza Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast and were broadcast live on SBS. Delayed telecasts can be seen on Showtime on 20 & 21 November. Widely regarded as the people’s choice awards for Australian films, the Inside Film Awards attracted almost 50,000 scores from the public over the past year.
