Press Release
The Post Lounge has welcomed a new Senior Editor to the creative team with the arrival of Sue Schweikert, ASE.
Born & raised in Brisbane, Sue graduated from the Queensland College of Art in 1978 where she studied Visual Communication majoring in film making & animation.
Following her dream to work in the film industry she moved to Sydney in 1979 and began work at Film Graphics.Trained in editing under Peter Blaxland and David Denneen, Sue’s education in story telling & technique is like a history of the development of film making over the last 25
years. From film editing on a Steenbeck where your most complicated tool was sticky tape to the latest techniques in non-linear editing, Sue has mastered each advancement easily.
Her list of awarding winning TV commercials is extensive and ranges from classics like McDonalds ‘James Dean’ (Dir: David Denneen), to beautiful pieces like Australian Tourism Commission ‘Shorts’ (Dir: David Denneen) through to visual effects extravaganzas like Caltex ‘Flies’ and Tooheys ‘War of the Appliances’ (Dir: Graeme Burfoot).
More recently working at Guillotine, Sue has completed projects for Subaru Forrester and Samsung Smart TV (Dir : Bruce Hunt), FFA ‘Uniting tribes’ (Dir: Lenny Dorfman), a campaign of three TVC’s for YOUI Insurance (Dir: Bryan Cawood) and a fun Mt Franklin’s Light Sparkling Mineral Water featuring 6 Jen Hawkins for Josh Frizzell. While commercials have been her main focus, in the last few years Sue has
also edited several short documentary’s for web release. A 5min study of microfinance in India for IBM (Dir: Jeff Curry), a series of four ‘webumentry’s for Visa Business (Dir: Sean Ashcroft) and a study of GE’s heavy industry facilities in Western
Australia (Dir: Kriv Stenders).
Having joined The Post Lounge family, Sue has returned to her home town and has already shown her skill and enthusiasm on brand new work for Tourism & Events Queensland “Southern Great Barrier Reef” (Dir: Jonas McQuiggan), CUA Insurance (Dir: Mitch Kennedy), Queensland Health “Full Stop” (Dir: Ryan Renshaw) and RACQ Roadside Assist (Dir: Miles Murphy).
Sue’s philosophy is simple: In collaboration with the director I see my role as a storyteller. Each project no matter how simple or complex has to communicate as well as it possibly can. Once in the editing room the director should be able to concentrate on the art and not be concerned with the technical aspects of the project. I love the challenge of editing. Every project is different and every project has it’s own difficulties but when those difficulties are overcome it is immensely satisfying.
