The multiple award-winning producer will present an in conversation session at the Screen Producers Australia conference on Tuesday November 18 at 4.15pm.

Known as the "First Lady of Sci-Fi,” Hurd began as executive assistant at Roger Corman’s New World Pictures. Her career as a producer took off after she produced and co-wrote The Terminator in 1984, followed by Aliens, which won two Academy Awards, The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and The Ghost and the Darkness.

Her TV career began as EP of The Walking Dead, which has won two Emmys. She is also a consulting producer on AMC’s spinoff talk show Talking Dead.
Hurd’s company Valhalla Motion Pictures has an overall deal with Universal Cable Productions to develop TV and digital programs. She will serve as a producer on AMC's new pilot, a companion series to The Walking Dead.
Her recent film, Very Good Girls, starring Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen, premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
This month she is being inducted into the International Women’s Forum Hall of Fame, which features such honorees as Rosa Parks, Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Audrey Hepburn.
