Yarning Up completes filming

Filming has recently finished on the television documentary series Yarning Up.

The Northern Territory Film Office in partnership with the Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association developed this initiative.

Other partners included the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Department of Employment, Education and Training, the Australian Film Commission and National Indigenous Television.

Supported through a grant from the NTFO Yarning Up brings new money into the Northern Territory Screen Industry. The Yarning Up series of four documentaries has employed a predominately Territorian and Indigenous cast and crew.

Penny Smallacombe returned to her hometown of Darwin to produce the series. Darwin based sound recordist Ian Redfearn and cameraman Colin Richards also worked on the series.

Alice Springs based editor Dena Curtis is currently editing the documentaries, which are directed by Frank Djirrimbilpilwuy, Tom E Lewis, Eilish Markuniny and Jedda Puruntatameri.

The series will air on the ABC’s Message Stick on 7 September 2008.
