Western Australia’s biggest ever production launched this month, with the highly-anticipated second season of award-winning series The Twelve, premiering on BINGE.
The second season was filmed entirely in Western Australia, with York in WA’s Wheatbelt region acting as the fictional rural township of Tunkwell. The series was supported by Screenwest via the WA Production Attraction Incentive. It brought together one of the largest ensembles of any series produced in Australia, including returning star, Sam Neill as Brett Colby QC.
Season 2 features a new crime, new jury and two ex-lovers accused of murder. When local landowner and respected town matriarch, Bernice Price, is found dead at the bottom of her farm’s pump well, two ex-lovers stand accused of her murder. Twelve ordinary citizens from diverse backgrounds have been plucked from the township and its surrounds to decide the fate of the co-accused – was Bernice the victim of a crime of passion, a workplace accident or just misfortune?
“I would like to thank Screenwest headed by Rikki Lea Bestall, the Western Australian Government and the talented local creatives for their tireless support and hospitality throughout the filming of this incredible series.” said Alison Hurbert-Burns, Commissioner Foxtel Group and Executive Producer.
Western Australia is establishing itself as a sought-after filming destination thanks to its striking landscapes, skilled crew and Australia’s most competitive incentives.
