In the second season of Tony Ayres Productions (TAP) and Megaboom Pictures’ Spooky Files, Spooky Crew is back in business when the original Spooky – Chaos – suddenly turns up and a bunch of new Spookies start appearing.
As well as defending Sunny Valley from Spooky mayhem, the crew has to work out where Chaos has been for the last six months, how the portal reopened, and why all the Spookies are refusing to go home. It’s a lot – especially when the end of the school year is looming, a new baby is on the way, and the Johns have taken over Spooky HQ.
Returning as part of the cast are Thomas Saddler as Bert, Alberta Brudan as Xena, Audrey Salinas as Billie, and Lennox Lee as Derek. Mila Hourmouzis joins the lead cast as the newest member of the Spooky Crew, Backpack Jess, after making her screen acting debut in season one.
Creators Guy Edmonds and Matt Zeremes are back as John and Jon, working with an ensemble cast that also features Mina Annan as Robina, Rebecca Bower as Jane, Mario Setyana as Ed, and. HaiHa Le as Ms Norris. Michala Banas, Bert La Bonté, and John Leary also appear in the new season.
Edmonds and Zeremes were joined on the writing team by Marisa Nanakhorn Brown, Emma Gordon, Clem Bastow, Tim Williams, Alexander Andreotti, and Andrea Denholm, with Edmonds also directing with Sarah Hickey and the returning Leticia Cáceres, Matt Zeremes, and Guy Edmonds.
Paul Watters served as producer, with Andrea Denholm and Tony Ayres executive producing. The series had major production investment from Screen Australia, in association with the ABC, and was financed with support from VicScreen and BBC
The second season of Spooky Files will be available on ABC iview from 6.00am on Friday, October 4. Season two will also air in the dedicated kids zone on ABC Entertains weekdays from Monday, October 28 at 8.10am.
